Hill Country Street Rods
What a Disappointment! I had to wait a few days before I wrote this
newsletter since our last meeting because I was angry.
We have an event coming up, our "Show N' Go" and
it is very close in time to be putting this on.
We had a VERY important meeting scheduled at a wonderful restaurant that was
picked out and approved by you, the members.
Only 6 people showed up. The room was reserved and the $50 charge was
waived because I had used that restaurant in the past for other events.
At least two members had the courtesy to call and let me know they were not
going to be there. If you don't care that much about the Club,
YOUR CLUB, then I give up.
So now, what are you going to do to assist in getting this "Show N' Go" event moving forward? Time is running out.
Are you going to attend, work the gate, help in the judging of cars, set up the area, sell T-Shirts, bring door prizes, get bags to use for Goodie Bags, get stuff to put into the goodie bags. sell 50/50 tickets, work registration, sell sponsors ads for the T-Shirts, clean up or WHAT ? ? ? ? We don't know because you weren't there .....
Or are you just going to say "Oh Yea, I'm a member of HCSR" and leave it like that and let a few others do all the work?
So, now that I let off some steam, here is what we need from you. The Next meeting is going to be on Sunday April 6th. The meeting will be held at the Sonic Building on Burleson Rd. (same place as last year). We need to stuff the Goodie Bags and gather the door prizes from the members. I will have the Club's Trailer there for storing them till the event. This will take place at 2:00 pm on SUNDAY April 6th.
Don would like to also have our Cruise that we tried to do in Feb. but was cancelled due to the weather? SO at 10:00, April 6th we are to meet at the "Y" in Oak Hill and leave by 10:30AM for Wimberley. We will cruise down Hwy 290 West to Dripping Springs where we will take Hwy 12 toward Wimberley. Once in Wimberley we will enjoy the day looking at the sites and shopping in the town square. Afterwards we will leave around noon and head to the Salt Lick for a Bar B Que Lunch. From there we will depart for the Sonic Building for our planned meeting and bag stuffing. Drive your Rod or everyday car, but come and support the efforts we went to in making these plans.
If you can't or don't want to attend the cruise, then meet the rest of the Club at the Sonic Building at 2:00pm. on SUNDAY April 6th. "Show N' Go"
The meeting was called to order at 7:50 (we were hoping for more members to show up) by President, Don Sevall. Six members were in attendance.
There was favorable response to the electronically sent newsletter. The "Show N' Go" event scheduled for May 3rd was the featured item of discussion. We are running out of time for planning so we all were encouraged to do our part to make this event successful.
As a summary of areas of planning and preparation:
Ralph Saucedo won the prizes for wearing his club shirt.
No rods were driven. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30.
Respectfully submitted,
Kay Bowen, Secretary/Treasurer
