Hill Country Street Rods
Well everyone, it is over! We completed our Show N Go event for 2008. It was a wonderful day and the weather started out cool but the temperature was great all day long. We had a high count of spectators and sold a bunch of tee shirts. The attendance for the Car Show was good as we awarded each of the Top 10 Cars a nice plaque. The Drags race was marred by a minor wreck at the starting line during a pre stage burn out. This delayed the event for about an hour, but the main thing is the driver didn't get hurt. The car was a Henry J with an awesome engine and a great sound. It made a few passes so we all got to see what it could do.
The Top Muscle Car Winner, and the Top Street Rod Winner, faced off at the end and the Muscle Car won. Each received a very nice plaque and the Top winner received a trophy.
The show was over and the clean up began. We had the new owner of the track present and we paid him the amount he asked for. Come to the next meeting and Kay will have a full financial report. The tacos that Don brought, the donuts from Robert and the coffee from Kay kept us warm and full while we set up. Steve made some awesome hotdogs for lunch. Thanks to you all.
We want to thank all of the members who came out and helped put on this show. Those of you who did will be recognized at the year end Party. Just wanted to thank everyone in our club that participated in the long day, Saturday, from the gate, to the 50/50, Steve with the hotdogs, Robert, the doughnuts, Kay with the finances, Jim and Nicki, t-shirts and door prizes, again, all that lent a hand, and the Sponsors, and Anne and also Dan putting out the fires between the owner and the club.
