Hill Country Street Rods
No it's not late, the newsletter was delayed since so much activity was going on and we were not having a meeting next month, I decided to make this a combined newsletter for June and July.
The month of May had a few shows to go to and of course June was loaded with events for or cars. Robert Morris has been showing his car at all the shows he can make now that it is back on the road and looking great. One of the biggest shows was the Fathers Day show here in Austin at 51st and North Lamar. They had a terrific turn out of over 225 cars. Since the show was cancelled last year since the North Cross Mall Shopping Center was fighting the Wal-Mart Corp. they could not have the show there. So at the last minute they had to cancel the show and wait till this year.
Well the wait was a smart thing to do. They found this location at a government parking lot. The lot will hold 1000 cars and was plenty big. Many spectators showed up and the parking was more then adequate for all. They planned for this the right way. They had food vendors, refreshments and shade for taking. They even had 5 port-a-cans there for your convenience. This was a free event and no cost to show off your car. They did have 10 awards to hand out at the end that were selected by a team of car enthusiast. Even KVET was there doing a remote broadcast. It was a very HOT day.
John Majalca and myself were there with our cars but we were part of the AACA Club putting this event on. Robert Morris was there with his 41' Pontiac and Ralph Saucedo with his 66' Chevy truck. I didn't see anyone else from the club participating or as a spectator. Probably had family events going on.
Respectfully submitted,
Dan Bowen
We now have our WEBSITE up and running. If you have pictures of your car or some events that you want to share, please send them to me and I will get them on the WEB SITE.
I would like to have a Bar B Que at our place so we can take a group picture and add it to the site. No date set but it will have to get cooler for me first. Check it out.
At the last meeting that was held at Hills Café, we had a great turn out. We discussed the Show and Go Event and our Pres. Don, made a motion and was passed that the Club pick up the tab for the meal since we all did a great job at the Drags.
Thanks Don. We all worked hard but had a good time doing it.
Take your Rod out and play with it…
In the beginning of this calendar year it was decided that we would keep track of each members activity for the Club. So far many of you are right up there but there are a few who are falling by the way side.
Remember if you don't participate you won't be able to attend the end of year event at a special cost savings. So get active be for it is too late.
If you would like to write a article or add pictures to the newsletter please send it to me and I will gladly add it to the print.
Come to the meeting with your Rod. Don't forget to wear your Club shirt, cap
or jacket and reap the benefits that are in store for all who do.
