Hill Country Street Rods

August 2008

Are you all tired of this HOT weather?  I sure am.  I don't have the energy or the desire to get out and do anything.

I work in the mornings out in the garage them come in and do computer work in the afternoon after lunch.  I'm not sure if it is my age increasing or the heat, but it is hard to do anything.

I don't know if anyone has been to any shows since the last newsletter.  No one has contacted me and I have not personally participated in any except for the Saturday night cruise to the Y in Oakhill.  I did make a trip up north to see some cars at their cruise but the day I was there it was not well attended with old cars.

The Luling Watermelon Thump I heard was good but again it was too hot for most.   The Texas Heat wave was just that "HEAT".  Did anyone attend?

By now you all know about Dave Berry.  Such a sad turn to such a nice guy and family.  The funeral was well represented by the Members of the HCSR.  Most of us drove our Street Rods in honor of Dave.  We have as a Club, decided to pass on the donation to the Scholarship award this year and instead send a check to Angela Berry to help her in the cost of her expense.  The sympathy card was signed from all Club members by Kay.

Respectfully submitted,
Dan Bowen

Web Site

We now have our WEBSITE up and running.  If you have pictures of your car or some events that you want to share, please send them to me and I will get them on the WEB SITE.  Check it out, click here.

Plans will be made for us to have a Bar-B-Que at our place so we can take a group picture and add it to the site.  The date will be discussed at our meeting at Busters but it will have to get cooler for me.

Upcoming Events

The meeting this month will be at Busters Bar B Que on RR620 this Thursday August 7th.

Don't forget the ' Y' in OakHill every Saturday night at 7:00pm.  Take your Rod out and play (i.e. enjoy) with it.
