Hill Country Street Rods

September 2008

A word from your President

We have just experienced the hottest 90 days in recent history, only two years have been hotter, 1925 and 1926, and I don't believe any of our current members can remember that, well, maybe Roy…, this contributes to the lack of enthusiasm to attend weekend car events, together with the high price of gas and, perhaps, a rod without working A/C, like mine.

Hopefully, we will be catching a few days in the near future that will be below normal or at least normal, instead of the triple digit variety to re-invigorate our rodding activity.

Hope to see all of our current members and guests at our next meeting for some GREAT Tex- Mex at a reasonable price, and don't forget your rod and shirt.

Bastrop Area Cruiser Car Show and Judging Volunter Communication Request

Dear Fellow Street Rodders, Hot Rodders and Car Enthusiasts,

Coming this November 7th and 8th is the 3rd Annual Veteran’s Weekend Car Show in Historic Downtown Bastrop, Texas. The show is jointly sponsored by the Bastrop Area Cruisers Car Club and the Bastrop Downtown Business Alliance.

The car show has grown in size from 175 in 2006, to 269 in 2007 and we are expecting over 300 entries in 2008. In order to enhance the quality of the show the Bastrop Area Cruisers (BAC) are asking for volunteers from Area Car Clubs to judge the entries this year at the car show on Saturday, November 8, 2008.

This letter is being sent as an invitation to several officers/members of surrounding Car Clubs and Associations to assist us in the judging. We are looking for a total of about 45 judges with some coming from our own club.

All volunteers will need to be available for a Judges briefing at 9:30 a.m. on November 8 as we plan to begin Judging at 10 a.m. sharp. Teams of three judges will be asked to judge approximately 20 vehicles which we estimate to take approximates three hours. If there are any members of your organization that would be interested in volunteering to judge at our show please remit their name, phone number and if possible their e-mail address to any of the BAC members below.
