President's commentary

Hey guys, just a short final farewell speech, we had a great time at Treadgills (our most recent meeting), and for those of that were not able to attend, we picked our next year's officers, and the transition should take place without any bloodshed.

Thank you again with putting up with me for another year. Trust me, it gets easier the second or third time around. Congratulations to all the new officers; the previous ones deserve a break.

Hope to see all of you at our annual Christmas party at the County Line BB-QUE, the 30th of this month, Sunday night

Your Out Going Prez ...,

Secretary's Report

"Meeting Minutes and Special Reports"

The last meeting had a terrific turnout of members. I guess Threadgill's Restaurant was a hit. We will have to hold another meeting there again next year.

One of the big items that occurred at the meeting was the election of new officers for 2009. Following is our new slate of officers:

  • President, John Majalca
    • John has been in the club for a few years and will do a good job for us.

  • Vice President, Ralph Saucedo
    • Ralph is one of our newer members who is energetic and ready to step in.

  • Secretary, Mary Morris
    • Mary brings us a delightful change is filling the Secretary position.

  • Treasurer, Anne Phares
    • Ann has served as Secretary for many years in the past. We're glad to have her back as one of our officers again.

  • Newsletters and Activities, Dan Bowen
    • The distribution of Activity notices and the Newsletter will be continued by Dan Bowen.

Wes Campbell will continue to update and maintain our Website.

Thanks to each of you (new officers) for taking the time to serve your fellow members and leading the club into 2009.

Christmas Party

The (major) upcoming event that was discussed is the End of Year Christmas Party. The format is set and Perry Olander and the Huckabees have planned a big party for us. The details are in this newsletter (click on Upcoming Events to see more details). Please read and respond as we need a head count to notify the restaurant of how many will be participating.

The date for this event is 6:00 PM, NOV. 30, 2008 (the last Sunday of this month.)

Time is growing short and we need the information back now, so please call me to reserve your meal. 963-5515.

Final deadline to make your reservation is Thanksgiving Day!

Last Meeting's Drawing Winners

The winners for the meeting cash drawings were, John Majalca for driving his car and Robert Morris for the shirt. Two extra prizes were passed out and Wes Campbell and Don Sevall won the key fobs.

Fundraising Cruise

It was mentioned that over $4000 was collected at the Dell Children's Medical Center Fundraising Cruise to Lockhart! Our club contributed $200+ to that cause. There were 47 cars participating.

Out-going Officers

Many thanks to the outgoing officers for all of their hard work during the year.

Respectively submitted;
Dan & Kay Bowen

Upcoming Events

Upcoming Events

Our annual Christmas party is at the County Line Bar B-Que on Nov. 30th. This particular restaurant is on Bee Caves Rd. We will begin to arrive at 6:00pm for a social time together and we will eat around 7:00pm.

We will have a Chinese gift exchange taking place and the gifts are not to exceed $15.00 per gift per person please. They can be a nice gift or a funny one. Either way it will be fun. You each must bring a gift to participate.

The cost for the Dinner will be $20.00 per person. It was decided that only those who were physically at Show and Go this year, will have their meal paid for by the HCSR.

For those members who did not attend Show and Go this year, members and spouse will be charged $20.00 per person. Extra guests that are non club members will be charged $29.00 each. Children's price will be determined at door.

NEW RULE in play (from Dan Bowen),

At the November meeting (Threadgills), I told the members that I since I do the newsletter and I'm the one who always has to come up with articles for the newsletter, we're going to have a new rule for 2009.

This coming year (2009) this is changing. At the last meeting, I placed all members' names in a hat and drew 12 names. These 12 names will write an article for the newsletter for the month they are assigned.

The article can be of any nature. It does not have to be car related. It can be a recipe from the ladies. Tell a story of your family or what you like to do. I had to do this all year. If you do not submit a message to me via e mail or regular mail, then that month will be missing your information and your name will appear over a blank page. I know that you will all come through and it will be fun. So get ready now and be prepared.

The following people are responsible for contributing an article
(as described above) for the monthly newsletter:

January Duke Tarlton July Graham Phares
