Message from our President, John Majalca
Hello fellow Street Rodders, as we all like to be known as. This crazy weather keeps everybody re-doing their closets between fair weather and winter clothes. I see a few rods and classics out on the road even in the cooler days with the sun shining (?). I finally got my '32 back on the road this past weekend (22 Feb). What a hassle Dan & I went through in trying to find the correct rear axle bearing. After having to ruin a good "wrong bearing" to install the correct one after some late night internet research by Dan. Now the task of checking out the other side to make sure the bearing isn't about to fail like the other one did. So, after all that, beware of the "so pro-claimed" experts. Just found out the Austin Mustang club is having a car show at the Dell Diamond on the 7th of March the cost is $15.00 and it's from 8:30A to 3:00P.
Maybe the weather will be nice. If anybody else has roadrunner internet, I surely hope they're not having as much trouble as I've had trying to put these few words together for the newsletter. See you on the road, again!!, John
Till we meet again!
Message from our Activities Director, Dan Bowen Last month we were invited to a Sock Hop and Car Show in Liberty Hill. This event was the second time this promoter put this type of event on. We had a few members attend with their rods and a few came with out them. All in all we had a good time and if you would like to see pictures of the event, ask Dan to send them to you. Now that the website is back up and running, we will try to get a few pictures on it.
Since we have lost the track to hold our Annual Show N Go, we might want to start thinking of a new plan. We can host a ROD RUN like they use to have years ago. No one really does these anymore so it might be one idea. We could also host a SOCK HOP of our own as another idea. I'm sure that you have idea that we can talk about at the meeting. I would hope that what ever we do it will be closer then the drive to Little River was.
One more thing I wanted to bring up. Every year we attend the LSSRA Rod Run in Fredericksburg and we have a great time. On Sunday they give out awards and other Clubs present their Club's Choice. Would you all be in favor of doing the same? We could give out a trophy for a car that the members who attend can select. We can discuss this at the next meeting.
Dan Message from our Secretary, Mary Morris Minutes from March 5, 2009 meeting
