Message from our President Robert Morris What a wonderful turnout we had at a great restaurant that Dennis picked for us.
Mimi's cafe on N. Mopac was a great place to hold the meeting. The Club brought
the 30th Anniversary Cake and all was eaten up. The
last of the awards were handed out to the members awarded last year. The big surprise for me was the
CTCCC Jacket that you all had for me. What a very nice surprise to me at that meeting. I thought that I stay
pretty much aware of happenings at the meeting and Club activities, but that was such a surprise for me.
Thank you all for getting it for me. I will definitely wear it with pride.
The meeting for February I hope to complete the photo presentation I have for you of early activity of the
Club. I received albums of photo's from years ago of our events and activities. I'm pretty sure that I will
have it done. It will be great for you all to see this as I have enjoyed reliving the events in the pictures. I will
have these old newsletters for you to see and read also.
So with this winter time approaching the end and spring just around the corner, get busy in the garage and
dust off the Chevy. It could probably use a good wax job and sweeping out. The new year is my time to change
my oil in my cars. This is something I do every year even if the car does not come out. I do run them monthly
so they just don't sit there. This will keep them lubricated and keep the battery up. So get it ready. Dennis
has plans for us this year and activities that will keep you involved with the best Club in Austin.
Dan Dan Message from our Activities Director, Dan Bowen Happy New Year to all of you. Can't believe that the years are flying by so
fast. It just seems like a few years ago we just got started in this great hobby.
Now, 30 years later we are still having fun with our cars. But, I can't think of
a better way to spend or leisurely time. Of course, with the exception of
spending time with our family, that's what I'm talking about. Well we traveled around Texas seeing our family just like many of you may have
done during the Holiday Season. While we were in Plano visiting my son Steve
and his family, we encountered very cold temperatures and even snow. Much
more then we see in Austin, but it was cold and these RV's are NOT made for
the cold weather. Luckily we had two electric heaters and we were in an RV park
where we can plug in. Now we are leaving and heading south to Houston to my
other son Danny's family. Hopefully it is warmer there. I would like to thank all of you who attended the wonderful Party that the Club
held at Poke Joe's. Sorry a few of you could not make it because you really
missed a good time. We had a lot of laughs and I think it's safe to say
everyone, especially spouses, had a great time. Well, with the new year just a few days away as I'm writing this message, I
would like all of you to make a New Year's resolution. How about if; We had a few events last year and we had a good turnout for each of them. Let's
try to have a bigger turnout this coming year and really have some fun. I know
that you will enjoy yourselves. Thank you for your confidence in the selection of officers again. We will all
strive to keep the spirit and fun for the Club going on. Be sure to attend
the next meeting and be sure to check out the new additions to the website and
the photos from years past. Have a safe, healthy and happy New Year and may all your wishes come true. Dan Minutes of HCRS December 2009 meeting The Hill Country Street Rod Christmas party/meeting took place on December 3,
2009 at Poke' Joes. We enjoyed brisket, ribs and all the trimmings.
John Majalca called the meeting to order. The treasury report was given
by Anne and the minutes were accepted as in the newsletter. A special
thanks was given to Dan for making the arrangements for the Christmas party for
us all to enjoy. Dan gave his report regarding the Buda Fest Parade and requested that all those
wishing to participate be at the field by 8:30 am. He also reported that
we will continue with monthly stories from members as we did this past year. Dan and Kay presented plaques to the most active members of the club, Graham
and Anne Phares; Robert and Mary Morris; John and Gloria Majalca; Don and
Donna Seville; and Dan and Kay Bowen.
John Majalca passes the office of President to Robert Morris for the next year.
Don Seville will be V.P., and Kay Bowen will be secretary, and Anne Phares will
remain the treasurer. John and Dan said they had ordered new club plaques.
The meeting was adjourned and the gift exchange began. Respectfully submitted, Mary Morris, Secretary
